Karl Leonard Andre, 95, late of Newport, died at the Yaquina Care Center in Newport on March 14.
Born in Hallestad, Sweden on Jan. 28, 1884, he had been a resident of this area since 1941, and before his retirement in 1955, had been a baker, working in Toledo and Newport. Mr. Andre was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Newport.
Survivors include two daughters, Ella Woolery of San Bernardino, Calif., and Rose Claridge of Newport; a son, Roy L. Andre of Newport; five step-daughters: Signe Peterson of Jacksonville, Greta Royal of Lincoln, Neb., Edith Knoeffler in California, Anna Powell of Sunnyside, Wash., and Betty Parker of Jacksonville; a brother, Gottfried Andersson in Sweden; a sister, Edla Johansson in Sweden; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fubneral services were held Monday, March 19 at the Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. Interment will follow in the Eureka Cemetery.
